FAQs
About D&D
-
D&D is a TTRPG (Table Top Role Playing Game) where the players embody a character and work with their fellow party members to traverse the world created by their Dungeon Master, aka the DM. Popularized in the 80s, D&D has made a huge comeback in the 2020s!
-
Absolutely! It is, primarily, a family-friendly game. D&D is hugely adaptable, popular with children and adults alike. While there are rules that guide how the game functions, the story can be created and adapted to fit whatever age range is playing.
-
D&D has so many benefits! It’s a wonderful game that lets kids sharpen their problem-solving skills, improvisational skills, teamwork, and overall confidence. Plus, there’s a healthy dose of math in the mechanics without feeling like homework.
THE CLUB
-
Any tween or young teen can join! While there is no hard age cut-off, the game will be geared toward middle schoolers.
Most importantly, we welcome anyone regardless of gender, race, disability, or anything in between. D&D is for everyone.
-
YES!!!! In fact, we encourage it! Contrary to popular belief, D&D isn’t a boy’s game. And hey, your DM is a girl too. D&D is for everyone.
-
As of now, D&D Club at Fords Library is 6pm every other Tuesday and Iselin Library is 3:30pm every other Friday. We’re testing it out bi-weekly but who knows, maybe it’ll become weekly if the interest is there!
Each meeting will run around 1-1.5 hours, depending on how fast the players get through the story. Sometimes a little extra silliness can sidetrack the story.
The player
-
Then we want you to join even more! This club will be completely beginner-friendly. It’s easy to pick up, and the complicated stuff will be eased for a younger player base. It’s more important to have fun than to play by the rules perfectly.
-
Just your imagination. You don’t even have to come with a character! Your DM will come ready with dozens of pre-made characters to choose from. Keep the character sheet for future use, or pick a new one next time you join!
Dice will also be provided at the table, although you are free to bring your own if you happen to have a 20-sided die lying around.
-
Don’t worry, you won’t fall behind. This club is designed for people to pop in and out as they please, and each week will have its own self-contained story.
If you arrive late or leave early, we’ll just come up with a creative way to introduce or send off your character in the story.

Meet your DM
Hi there! I’m Tiffany. I’m a 31-year-old nerd living in Avenel, NJ.
I first fell in love with D&D back in 2017 after listening to a podcast called The Adventure Zone, where three brothers and their dad started a campaign as a goof, but accidentally created one of the most beautiful pieces of storytelling I’d ever heard. Since they were new to the game, it taught me how to play along with them and inspired me to find a group to play with.
Currently, I’m playing a similar TTRPG called Old Gods of Appalachia, where I play a healing herbalist Bruja named Lumi. Hailing from Panama, where my family is from, she is the hispanic auntie of the town and carries around Magical Vicks Vaporub.
During the day, I’m a graphic designer (if the website didn’t give it away). Other interests include music ranging from K-Pop to heavy metal, Pokemon, musical theater, and learning random knowledge through YouTube videos.
Ready to join the adventure?
Registering isn’t required, but it helps us to plan ahead! The bigger the party, the harder it is to manage, so there are limited spots available. Our goal is around 8 kids, but we’ll work hard to accommodate if additional friends are brought along. Hopefully in the future, we can add another DM to the club!
